Eco-Blog
Sharp volunteers enjoy talking with students around the country and learning about your ideas to help the planet. On the Eco-Blog, Sharp Solar Academy volunteers share students' ideas and their own observations about climate change and the environment. Together we can make a difference.
From Beaches to Mountains: Pick Up Trash
My favorite place to be is outside. Nothing is more fun than hanging out on the beach, in the mountains or at the park. And because I love these areas so much, I feel that it’s important to help give back. Onee way I do that is to volunteer for the Surfrider Foundation and help pick up trash. They sponsor beach cleanups all across the East and West Coasts. http://www.surfrider.org/chapters.asp
We have other local conservation groups, like the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, who host native plant planting events, habitat restoration projects, and trail maintenance. http://www.pvplc.org/volunteering.shtml
The Bolsa Chica Conservancy also has cool monthly trash clean ups and non-native vegetation removal. If you have never participated in a trash pick event, I’d recommend it. It’s a ton of fun and makes a big difference!
